I Need Those Fat Burning Foods!!
Is there such thing as fat burning foods? What about fat burning diets? Foods that can actually start burning away fat the second you put it into your mouth? I thought the same thing and was very skeptical that someone will claim that they have some secret fat burning foods and only come to find out it’s another pill, potion or processed food that is probably worse for your body. But I quickly learned that I was wrong and there actually is fat burning foods that are very healthy for you. As a matter of fact not only are they healthy but many of them taste great too! Many foods have a very high thermogenic effect so you literally burn calories as soon as they enter your mouth. Then some other foods contain nutrients that increase your metabolism. These are all great fat burning foods. So I thought its time to share my favorite fat burning foods so you can start eating what’s right and what will give you the results you want.
My Favorite Fat Burning Foods
After doing some research and trying to discover some serious super fat burning foods I found quite a list of food that is not only very healthy for your body but also good for burning fat. Here is what I found so far.
- Lean Proteins – lean proteins like chicken and fish actually take more energy to break down than regular carbohydrates and fats. This will keep your metabolism pumping throughout the day. These lean proteins also help you build muscle and strengthen your immune system along the way.
- Whole Grains – your whole grain pastas, whole grain breads, oatmeal, brown rice etc. all require your body to use twice as many calories to break down these foods. They also can prevent your body from storing fat when taken in moderation.
- Chili Peppers – Like spicy food?!?!? Well then that’s a good thing. Chili peppers contain Capsaicin which causes your body to heat up which then ultimately makes your body burn more calories. This goes for hot sauce as well. Add it to anything you like. I like putting it on whole grain taco wraps with grilled chicken or lean turkey meat chili. I am a big fan of hot sauce and when I found out that this was one of the fat burning foods I was pretty excited.
- Green Tea – We all know about caffeine and the ability it has to act as a stimulant. With green tea caffeine will cause your heart rate to increase and therefore causes your body to burn more calories. Green tea also has substances such as catechins that some studies have show to help burn belly fat.
- Coffee – Caffeine is also present in coffee as well. It may not have all the health benefits that green tea has such as antioxidants but it is still a stimulant and is one of those fat burning foods that can get rid of fat.
Fat Burning Foods – A Couple More!
- Peanut Butter – This is not only one of my favorite snacks but also one of those great fat burning foods. It is high in calories so make sure you eat this in moderation but it helps build muscle and also burn fat. Remember lean muscle gained in your body from working out will burn more calories so peanut butter is a great snack.
- Low-Fat Dairy Products – Dairy can get a bad reputation but low-fat dairy products such as fat free milk, yogurt and cheese are rich in calcium and help build strong bones and increase weight lose. Additionally yogurt contains probiotics and some studies have shown that this decreases the amount of fat your body can possibly absorb.
- Nuts– Any type of nuts preferably with their skin in tact will help build muscle and reduce cravings similar to peanut butter. I eat all types of nuts such as almonds, cashews, walnuts etc. It’s a great midday snack that helps satisfy your hunger. But again just like peanut butter these fat burning foods should be taken in moderation because they are high in calories. A handful or two of nuts should be sufficient as a good snack.
Fat Burning Foods In Moderation
All of these ideas are great fat burning foods but you should remember to eat everything in moderation. Ideally you want to eat every 2-3 hours. Smaller meals throughout the day will keep your metabolism elevated and allow your body to consistently burn calories and fat. Even though society teaches us to eat three larger meals throughout the day this isn’t the best way to lose weight and burn off fat. Additionally, breakfast is the most important meal of the day to jump start your metabolism so do your best to get some of these fat burning foods in your body first thing in the morning. Having eggs for breakfast is another protein source like the listed lean proteins above that will help you burn off that fat.
