Get In Shape For Summer!
Spring is in the air and that means bathing suit weather is around the corner! I know so many people right around this time every year want to get in shape for Summer. The fear of hiding behind your clothes all summer long in one hundred degree weather really stinks! Wearing over sized t-shirts to cover up yourself is not either. Wearing that t-shirt in the pool or at the beach over your bathing suit to cover up your body is not fun either. Having physical insecurities stinks. Who wants to feel that way? Not me and I know not you either. Deep down everyone wants to feel and look good and when Summer is upon us this is on everyone’s mind. How do we get in shape for summer? Is there a quick fix with some pill, potion or processed food that can help me lose the weight? I know millions of people want to get in shape for summer and I’m here to help you do just that!
Get In Shape For Summer But I Don’t Have Time!
The # 1 objection I hear from people that want to get in shape for summer or simply get into shape any time of the year is I don’t have time. I always challenge people with this excuse. We all have 24 hours in a day. No more, no less. What separates the people that are successful and the ones that aren’t are how we manage those 24 hours. Do you have to watch hours of television every single week? Do you need to sleep in every weekend? Do you give yourself just enough time in the morning so you get to work on time? Or can we manage our time a little better and get up a little earlier or cut out hours of mindless tv?
I am a father of three little girls. I work full time in law enforcement and part time as a fitness and nutrition Coach. My commute is about 2 hours a day. My girls have tons of activities throughout the week. My wife works full time as well. I can come up with a thousand reasons why I don’t have time to exercise. But I don’t. I realized that the only time that worked for me was getting up early in the morning. I had to make that decision. Either continue to gain weight and feel horrible both mentally and physically or make that change. If you want to get in shape for summer you may need to make that change too! I get up at 5:00am everyday. I have to get my workout in before my kids get up. Is it hard? Yes. But once it’s over I feel like a million bucks the rest of the day. It’s not only good for me physically but I feel great mentally as well! So you and only you need to make that change. Stop blaming the world and stop living your life by default. Live your life by design. You need to control your life and manage your schedule. Once you make that choice then you always find the time to exercise. If you want to get in shape for summer then it starts with breaking through the excuse that you don’t have time.
Get In Shape For Summer – Where Do I Start?
So you decided that you want to get in shape for summer but don’t know where to start. There are many options. The simplest one is to begin walking right in your own neighborhood. Something is better than nothing. But this may not do it for you. You want a little something more so you decide to join a gym. I think the gym is a great idea but what I find here is people tend to either socialize more at the gym than actually working out or people aren’t quite sure what to do once they get to the gym. Are you one of those people? Yes you can take classes at the gym but do they always fit in your schedule? For some of you this may work but you want to make sure that you don’t get bored. You also don’t want to be doing the same thing over and over which will lead to a muscle plateau. If this happens most of us end up quitting and we don’t want that. Deep down your goal is to get in shape for summer or simply get into shape period so we need to keep you motivated and interested!
What I have found to bring me great success is working out at home to one of the many at home fitness programs like P90X, Insanity, Turbo Fire, 10 Minute Trainer etc. I used to be an avid gym goer but what I found is the monotonous routine I became a victim of. I was doing the same thing over and over and not getting any results. At times it became rather boring and I would skip days. I needed a change. I wanted something that would motivate me to work out harder and show up each and everyday. I have to thank my good friend Paul everyday for introducing me to P90X. Since then I have quit the gym and work out at home 6 days a week. There are so many reasons why I love these programs and why I think they would truly help you get in shape for summer. The music and trainers in these workouts are motivating which makes all the difference in the world. You are doing a different workout each and everyday! They all come with a nutrition plan to help you succeed. I don’t have to waste time traveling to the gym. It’s a one time cost for the program rather than a monthly gym membership. But most importantly are the results that you can get. I have had great success by doing these programs. They challenge my body and cause me to get out of my comfort zone. This is had led me to great my success. This alone is priceless.
