Insanity Fit Test – Time To Get Ready!
So you just took the plunge or are thinking of taking the plunge by purchasing Insanity. The first thing it involves is the Insanity Fit Test. I love how this program is called the hardest workout ever put on DVD and I would have to agree with that. I have done Insanity for multiple rounds and absolutely love the program. Getting your butt kicked in under 45 minutes and sometimes burning upwards of 1000 calories is no small feat. I’m actually doing Insanity again now and I am in the beginning of Week 3. So when you get Insanity one of the first things that you will do is the Fit Test. It’s about 25 minutes long that entails a warm up, eight different Insanity moves and then a cool down. Let’s get right into the Insanity Fit Test and talk about it.
Insanity Fit Test – The Warm Up
In the Insanity Fit Test the warm up is just like all the other workouts but much shorter. You do the following seven moves in a row for about 15 seconds each. You go through these 7 moves one time in this workout compared to repeating them three times. This is just enough to get your heart rate up and your muscles a little warm so you can stretch. The 7 Insanity Fit Test warm up moves are:
- Jog In Place
- Jumping Jacks
- Heisman
- 1-2-3 Heisman
- Butt Kicks
- High Knees
- Mummy Kicks
After completing these seven Insanity Fit Test moves you go into some traditional stretching to stretch out the muscles in your legs. This last for a few minutes before you get into the actual Insanity Fit Test. Be sure to have some water and towel nearby because you will need it during the Insanity Fit Test. To your right is the Insanity Fit Test paper example.
Insanity Fit Test – The Actual Moves
The Insanity Fit Test is meant to test not only your physical ability today but also to see how you progress throughout the program. You will do the Insanity Fit Test multiple times throughout the 60 days and should improve each and every time. The moves in the Insanity Fit Test are also moves that you will do during the program so I like how you are not doing some random cardio move. You are actually doing moves from the Insanity workouts. The Insanity Fit Test moves are:
- Switch Kicks
- Power Jacks
- Power Knees
- Power Jumps
- Globe Jumps
- Suidice Jumps
- Push-Up Jacks
- Low Plank Oblique
You do each move for one minute long and the goal is to do as many repetitions as you can in that one minute. You can take as many breaks as you want in the actual Insanity Fit Test but your goal is to minimize the breaks and get as many reps as you can. After each move you get approximately a one minute break before you start the next move. During this one minute Shaun T will demonstrate the next move so you know what to expect and this will also give you some time to catch your breath! Also don’t forget to write everything down! This is very important. If you don’t write everything down you won’t have anything to compare to for the next fit test. You will see right away in the Insanity Fit Test that this program is going to test your limits and push you. If you want those extreme results you see on tv than you are going to have to get out of your comfort zone. After all of the Insanity fit Test moves are completed you go into the cool down.
Insanity Fit Test – The Cool Down
The Insanity Fit Test cool down entails some more stretching and breathing exercises to help slow your heart rate down and stretch your muscles out. No surprises here so it’s pretty basic and time for you to catch your breath. Once the Insanity Fit Test is over as a whole make sure you drink a lot of water and get used to doing that. Staying hydrated will be the key to your success in this program.
