Insanity Pure Cardio
I just finished Insanity Pure Cardio this morning and I have to admit every single time I do this workout I finish on the floor in pure exhaustion wondering what the heck just happened to me. Shaun T himself finishes on the floor and actually says “That S$#T is bananas y’all!” When Shaun T himself says that you know 100% that you just got your butt kicked when it comes to this workout which is similar but harder than a high intensity interval type cardio workout. Insanity Pure Cardio in my books should just be called Insanity Pure Hell! So the workout is very hard. I mean very very heard. But the feelings I get both mentally and physically from doing this workout I cannot put into words. I feel better mentally and know that I am getting stronger physically every time I do Insanity Pure Cardio or any of the Insanity workouts. Let’s dive right into Insanity Pure Cardio so I can explain exactly what this workout is all about.
Insanity Pure Cardio Warmup
The Insanity Pure Cardio warmup is very similar to the other Insanity warmups. Basically Insanity’s warmup is harder than most other people’s workout! LOL!! In Insanity Pure Cardio you do 7 different cardio moves in sequential order each for 30 seconds. However you repeat those 7 moves three times. The total warmup is about ten minutes and thirty seconds long. Here are the exact moves you do in the warmup:
- Jog In Place
- Jumping Jacks
- Heismans
- 1-2-3 Heisman
- Butt Kicks
- High Knees
- Mummy Kicks
Most of the warmup moves in Insanity Pure Cardio are self explanatory. All the moves individually are not that hard but what makes this a grueling workout within itself is that each time you repeat the cycle Shaun T makes you go faster. By the third and final cycle I am totally out of breath and when I finish I’m a complete sweaty mess. You are going all out as hard as you can for the full ten minutes and thirty seconds and are completely wiped by the time you are done.
After completing this warm up in Insanity Pure Cardio you then stretch for about 4 minutes. Shaun T’s routine is a little different than most workout routines because he has you stretch after an intense cardio session because he wants your muscles to be warm when you stretch. I actually think this is a pretty good idea and see the reasoning behind it. But right after the Insanity Pure Cardio stretch comes the true test and workout begins!
Insanity Pure Cardio Actual Workout
This Insanity Pure Cardio workout is absolutely insane. You do 15 cardio moves for a minute long each totaling 15 minutes with NO breaks! Yes I said it. NO breaks. Now don’t panic because no one including Shaun T himself goes through the full 15 minutes without having to stop to take a quick water break or to catch your breath for a minute. But this is no coffee break. When you can’t push yourself anymore or your form starts to suffer you need to stop, take a couple deep breaths, sip your water bottle then get right back into it. This is not a time to sit down but simply a time for a quick recovery and break. Shaun T always says “The work doesn’t begin until you get tired” and this is exactly what this workout is about. These are the 15 Insanity cardio moves in the actual workout.
- Suicide Drills
- Switch Kicks
- Wide Football Stance Running
- Stance Jacks
- Pedal (Sprint Then Lunge)
- Hooks And Jump Rope
- Power Jacks
- Level 2 Drills (push ups, mountain climbers, jump)
- Frog Jumps
- Power Knees
- Mountain Climbers
- Ski Down
- Scissor Runs
- Suicide Jumps
- Push Up Jacks
By the time you are done with these 15 moves in Insanity Pure Cardio I promise you that you will be lying on the floor feeling like Mike Tyson just punched you and knocked you out! But it’s all good! If you want extreme results then it’s all about getting out of your comfort zone and pushing yourself to your limit.
Insanity Pure Cardio Cool Down
After you peel yourself off the floor from the Insanity Pure Cardio routine (Shaun T included) you will then do the cool down. This is a few minutes of stretching to cool your body down. I actually watch the sweat pour off my nose like a running faucet when I’m stretching parts of my body like my hamstrings while bending over. Insanity Pure Cardio and all the Insanity workouts are the only routines that get me to this point. Here’s a cool video about Shaun T!
