Just when I thought working out can’t get any more intense and I wouldn’t be gasping for air any harder I realized I was so wrong. Shaun T in Insanity The Asylum found a way to do just that. It all started with the FIT test which was a rude awakening of what was about to come. Watch my FIT test video review here.
This program is only 30 days long because your body cannot go through something this intense beyond that. But The Asylum truly tests your mental toughness more than anything else. When your body is telling you that you can’t do one more power jump or push up you learn to FOCUS and push yourself past your limit. This is where you get the extreme results. As Shaun T says you must “dig deeper!”
Insanity The Asylum is a very hard intense resistance and cardio based routine. Jumping rope, push ups, power jumps, bear crawls etc. One after the next after the next after the next. Then….REPEAT! This is definitely a phenomenal workout and you know for sure when your done that you just got a kick ass workout.
So what’s different between this and the original Insanity? I would have to say for one its much harder. The workouts aren’t longer than 45 minutes but they are much more intense. Also the agility ladder is introduced which really holds you accountable. For example, in the original Insanity you did a move called In and Out abs. You basically were in the plank position and would jump your legs in towards your chest with bent knees then back out to plank. With the agility ladder you are in plank straddling the ladder. For the first 20 seconds you are jumping in and out of the first box closest to your feet. The next 20 seconds you would jump in and out of the second box. Then just when you feel you can’t go anymore the last 20 seconds you are jumping in and out of the third box which is directly below your chest and by far the most difficult. It forces your body to dig deeper.
This program is really intended for the mentally strong who want to take their fitness to whole other level. You do many moves which professional athletes do and this program truly makes you an athlete. I can almost guarantee, unless Shaun T himself is teaching, that there isn’t a single group fitness class as hard as this in any gym.
This is why I love Beachbody so much. You want a beginner’s routine? They have it. Moderate level? Have that too. Hard or Extreme? Of course they have this too! No matter what your fitness level is Beachbody has something for you. All you need is the willingness to change, desire to succeed and ability to push play!
Overall I give this workout a A+ rating! For more informationgo go to Insanity The Asylum
Should someone get screened to be fit by a doctor before jumping into intense program?
Where do you go for support when you hit a stale wall?

Hey Jose,
Thanks for the comment. As with any exercise program getting physician approval is always recommended.
