Insanity Tips That I Wish I First Knew About
I wish I had someone to give me many Insanity tips when I first did this Beachbody program. But I didn’t. I had no idea what I was in for and didn’t know what to expect. So after my first workout which was the Fit Test I had a rude awakening and was honestly in shock that such an extreme workout even existed. This was a high intensity interval type workout but at a whole other level. I too started looking online for some Insanity tips and didn’t have much luck. After doing Insanity multiple times plus Insanity The Asylum Volume I and Volume II I decided I wanted to share my Insanity tips with you.
Insanity Tips – Taking Breaks
Take as many breaks as you need is one of the first Insanity tips I want to talk about. It is impossible to complete an entire Insanity workout without having to stop to take breaks. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Even today I still take breaks when I need to. Shaun T himself takes breaks in his own program because that is just the way this program is. You are pushing your body to its limit and you only can go so far. I also find that if you are someone that doesn’t have to take breaks well then I would tell you that you aren’t pushing yourself hard enough. You can always push yourself harder in this workout so no matter how good a shape you are in there is always room for improvement. Breaks are important. So take them when needed.
Insanity Tips – Form Is Everything
Out of all the Insanity tips this is the one I hear a lot about and I have even heard Shaun T himself say this. When your form starts to go south you need to stop a take a break. Form is everything in this routine and if you start sacrificing form then you will eventually get yourself hurt. As soon as you feel your form start to slip take a break and then get right back in it. The last thing you want to do is get hurt. Don’t over extend yourself. Take that break. Just remember to listen to Shaun T throughout the workout and hear what he has to say when he describes each move. This is one of those Insanity tips that I feel should not be overlooked.
Insanity Tips – Good Sneakers Are A Must
You are going to be doing some very high intensity cardio moves like power jumps, squat jacks and so on. If you don’t have a good pair of sneakers that fit you well then you could end up getting injured. You need good support in your feet to avoid injuries to areas such as your knees or your back. This doesn’t mean you need to spend $150 on a pair of sneakers but this also means that the $25 pair at Walmart probably won’t cut it either. I personally use the Reebok Zig Sharks right now. I also have used the Nike Air Max too. Another one of my Insanity tips when it comes to sneakers is get a new pair every few months. Do not start a program like Insanity with sneakers that are a year old. They won’t have any support anymore. I get a new pair of sneakers every few months and the ones that I do get I only use for exercise. I don’t then wear them out for everyday use. Keep your workout sneakers separate.
Insanity Tips – It’s Okay To Modify
Another one of those important Insanity tips is to modify. If you can’t do a certain move don’t beat yourself up over it. Simply modify the move. Trust me every day you will get a little bit better and you eventually will not have to modify. But don’t compare yourself to the people in that video. They are all Insanity graduates and have completed the program. I’m sure many of them struggled when they started as well. Actually I know first hand that many of them struggled. So hang in there you will get better. Take these Insanity tips to heart and I promise it will all work out in the end.
Insanity Tips – It’s More Mental Than Physical
This is so true!!! This Insanity program is much more mental than physical. You are truly going to be tested. You will learn that you can do anything you put your mind too but your body is going to want to physically quit. It’s mind over matter! Shaun T always says “The work doesn’t begin until you get tired!” So just when you are thinking about quitting or taking your break do a couple extra reps or push yourself a few more seconds. The magic happens when you get out of your comfort zone.
