Insanity Vs Asylum – Which One Is Better?
So when it comes to Insanity vs Asylum I don’t know if one is really better than the other. Insanity is the original program put out by Shaun T through Beachbody. You probably heard that Insanity is called the hardest workout ever put on DVD. But Asylum came after Insanity and is considered the next level of fitness. People have been getting amazing results from both programs so when it comes to Insanity vs Asylum I don’t necessarily think one is better than the other. Both programs will push you to your limit and truly test your will power. I personally feel that both of these programs are more of a mental battle than physical. They are that hard that if you are not mentally strong enough you will probably end up quitting. Your warm up is probably harder than most peoples workouts. Within minutes of starting either program you will be out of breath and soaked in sweat. So I can honestly say if I compared Insanity vs Asylum I don’t think one is better than the other.
Insanity Vs Asylum – What Is the Difference?
The main difference between Insanity vs Asylum is the length of the program. Insanity is 60 days long and Asylum is 30 days. In the first 30 days/Phase I of Insanity the workouts are approximately 40 minutes long. In Phase II the workouts get harder and extend to approximately 55 minutes. Asylum is only 30 days long but you only have off about 2 days in the entire program. Insanity doesn’t require any equipment. Your body is your equipment in Insanity. Its all about you and the floor. 🙂 It involves fast moving intense moves including some resistance moves like push ups throughout the program. In Asylum you add in an agility ladder, jump rope, some resistance bands and even a pull up bar (optional). With Asylum its not only about doing some cardio but now you need to add in both agility and coordination. The agility ladder and jump rope make you pay attention to your coordination and agility. So Insanity vs Asylum does have one main difference which is definitely your coordination. Asylum additionally uses resistance bands that you place around your hands and ankles which makes the moves more difficult. Asylum has an added day of resistance training as well. You can use either resistance bands or weights for some moves. The pull up bar can be used but is is optional. So the main difference when it come to Insanity vs Asylum is basically the added equipment you use in Asylum and the length of the program.
Insanity Vs Asylum – Which One Is Harder?
So when I think Insanity vs Asylum and which one is more difficult I would have to say Asylum. In one of the Asylum workouts during one of the moves when you are stareing at the television in exhaustion Shaun T yells “This isn’t Insanity! You already graduated!” I think he gets the point across rather quickly. Also, in Asylum Shaun T lives by the motto “The work doesn’t begin until you get tired.” You have less breaks in Asylum compared to Insanity. I think the big thing that stands out when it comes to Insanity vs Asylum is the length of the program. I’ve been told that Asylum is only 30 days long because that’s all your body can handle when you are exercising to that level of intensity. I could agree with that. I have done multiple rounds of both Insanity and Asylum and Asylum is definitely more taxing on your body. After 30 days you are truly spent. I also feel that Asylum has a higher learning curve. I never knew how to jump rope and the first time I did Asylum I didn’t actually use the jump rope. I did the moves but imitated the use of a jump rope to get the timing down. It took some time to getting used to but I eventually got the hang of it and can jump rope without a problem now. Also getting the coordination moves down in the agility ladder took some time to getting used to. But in the end you truly became an elite athlete with Asylum.
Insanity vs Asylum – Can I Do Asylum First?
When people compare Insanity vs Asylum one question that always comes up is whether they can start Asylum without doing Insanity first. Technically the answer is yes. But I don’t know if I recommend that. If you have a good fitness base or are an athlete of some sort than you can start with Asylum. But if you are just starting out I would recommend you start with Insanity first to build a good fitness base and get some of the moves down. Insanity vs Asylum are very similar but Asylum is definitely a more advanced program and you should take this into consideration.
