Why do we need to make eating healthy so difficult? People time and time again are exploring new ways to try to lose the weight. No carb diet, liquid only diet etc. People will live their life counting points or calories. Some of these diets work, but I don’t know anyone who can live their entire life eating that way. Eating healthy shouldn’t be a second job. It should be easy and it can be. Its about keeping it simple. Todays society wants the pill, the potions or processed foods to do the trick and unfortunately this doesn’t work. Its simple old school. Just eating what our great grandparents ate on the farm. What is it? I’m just about to tell you.
If you can eat 80-90% of your week from these five ingredients then you don’t need to count calories. You don’t need to count points. It’s not a fad diet. It’s simple. They are:
fruits
vegetables
lean proteins
whole grains
healthy fats
Stick with this and your golden. I don’t know anyone who has become obese from these five ingredients. Now can you cheat? Absolutely! You need to LIVE your life. My cheat day is usually Friday nights and sometimes Saturday. However the rest of my week is eating clean and healthy and eating around these five ingredients. Here is normal day for me is:
P90X recovery drink after I workout around 6am.
Breakfast/8am – Oatmeal or chocolate Shakeology (blended with 2 cups Almond milk)
Midmorning Snack – Banana
Lunch – All natural Smuckers Peanut Butter with on Martins Whole Wheat Potato bread. Also an apple.
Midafternoon Snack- some almonds, or p90x protein bar, or shakeology (if I didn’t have it for breakfast), or another piece of fruit or Chobani yogurt.
Dinner – a meat, a carb (rice, whole wheat pasta etc ) and a vegetable.
I drink water and seltzer. No soda, even Diet.
Shakeology is key to my nutrition. I will never stop taking this. It has an abundant amount of vitamins and minerals and just can’t be missed.
In summary, don’t be so hard on yourself. Don’t stress over every little thing you put in your mouth. Keep it simple. Most importantly enjoy life!!!

Hi David,
It is absolutely the truth, I have been eating clean for a while now and what a difference it makes.
I feel a 100% better, lots more energy, better endurance, even cut down my running time by 5 min. On the last race!!
My favorite food is lentils and quinoa. Use lentils in my salad, with my chicken, even in my sauce.
Quinoa I use with applesauce and mix fruit, in yoghurt , it does not have much flavor by it self, so it picks up the flavor of what it’s begin put into. It actually tast very good, and it’s so good for you.
Heidi
Good for you Heidi! And if you look at all the healthy food your eating it falls into those 5 groups. It’s amazing when you fuel your body with proper nutrition how much better it functions! Congrats on the run time! Good for you! Keep bringing it!
