Les Mills Combat Review- Is This Same As Body Combat?
I was very excited to do the Les Mills Combat Beachbody review because once again Les Mills has taken one of their popular international programs and partnered with Beachbody. Les Mills has brought another program right into the comfort of your own home. Les Mills Combat aka Body Combat is an intense mixed martial arts type workout that is going to teach you how to kick, punch and strike your way to a lean stronger looking you. I loved Les Mills Pump and especially the music that came with it. My wife and I were totally hooked with Les Mills Pump. But now that Les Mills Combat has come out it both of us love this program as well. After doing it for just one day I woke up sore in spots where I didn’t even know I had muscles! I wanted to share my Les Mills Combat review with you and go over what its all about and what you can exactly gain.
Les Mills Combat Review –The Six Disciplines?
In this Les Mills Combat review I first wanted to go over the six different types of martial arts disciplines that are used in Les Mills Combat.
Boxing – we all know what boxing is and it primarily focuses on punches such as jab, cross, hook and uppercut.
Muay Thai – This is also know as “The Art of Eight Limbs” because all of your hands, knees, shins, and elbows are used primarily in this form of martial arts.
Tae Kwon Do – To make it simple “tae” means to strike or break with your foot. “Kwon” means to strike or break with your fist and “do” means the method. Simply put it is the way of the foot and fist.
Karate/Kung Fu – As I write this Les Mills Combat review when it comes to Karate I immediately think of The Karate Kid. Lol! What a great movie! So “kara” means open and “te” means hand. Karate focuses around staying grounded to the floor, keeping your posture upright and having a clear start and stop point for every move. Kung fu is a number of different fighting styles that have been around for centuries.
Capoeire – I can honestly say as I started to do this Les Mills Combat review I honestly never heard of Capoeira. This is a Brazilian form of martial arts that focuses in extensive use of sweeps, kicks and even head butts.
Jiu Jitsu – The last discipline in my Les Mills Combat review is Jiu Jitsu. This focuses on close combat and utilizes a lot of joint locks, pins and throws to stop the enemy.
Les Mills Combat Review – Fast Twitch Integration Training
In this Les Mills Combat review I thought this concept of fast twitch integration training was pretty cool. The six disciplines of mixed martial arts place a great demand on the body. This causes a lot of your fast twitch muscle fibers to be in use. As you increase the interval you go from controlled moves to power moves to finally high speed combinations. As the intervals increase so do the use of your fast twitch muscle fibers. This causes a high caloric burn both during the workout and after the workout as well! Nothing like burning calories throughout the day!! I was pretty excited when preparing this Les Mills Combat review to tell you about fast twitch integration training.
Les Mills Combat Review – The Workouts
I wanted to briefly discuss in Les Mills Combat review the different workout that it comes with.
- The Basics – (approx 30 minutes) This workout basically goes over all the different types of martial arts and will lay the foundation for you to prepare you for the rest of the program.
- Combat 30: Kick Start – (approx 30 minutes) – This workout is not to confusing but is high in intensity. You will really begin to learn about the Les Mills Combat moves.
- Combat 45: Power Kata – (approx 45 minutes) Kata means technique and flow. So prepare to work both your speed and cross-training in this workout.
- Combat 60: Extreme Cardio Fighter – (approx 60 minutes) This is one of the longer workouts so your endurance will be challenged and you will perform a lot of repetitions in this workout.
- Combat 60 Live: Ultimate Warriors Workout – (approx 60 minutes) This is all the mixed martial arts in it and is an interval based workout. Very intense but a lot of fun!
- Power HIIT 1 – (approx 30 minutes) – High Intensity Interval Training is about going full speed for a short amount of time followed by a recovery period. You then will repeat that same interval. I feel in this Les Mills Combat review that the HIIT workouts are some of the hardest and best in the program.
- Shock Plyo HIIT 2 – (approx 30 minutes) – Plyometrics also known as jump training is used here. You will perform moves so you can increase your athletic power as well as your endurance.
I hope from this Les Mills Combat review that you understand a little bit about each workout. The fact remains you won’t know how good this program really is until you do it. I sure didn’t know!

Les Mills Combat Review – Equipment Needed
As you can see above in this Les Mills combat review many of the workouts really don’t require any equipment. Two of them require some light weights but aren’t 100% necessary. If you want you can even get the Les Mills Combat gloves. I got the gloves and its pretty cool to wear them while working out.
