Les Mills Pump Review – What Exactly is Pump? Is it Body Pump?
In my Les Mills Pump review you are going to learn that this is one of the most exciting and quickest ways to get into shape. Many people know of the international workout program called BodyPump which has classes in local gyms throughout the world. Bodypump has become an international phenomenon and has millions of people working out to BodyPump. This Les Mills Pump review will explain how BodyPump is now available as a home workout fitness program. The great music, the people and the energy are all there. Take Les Mills Body Pump from the gym right into the comfort of your own home! I will also explain in this Les Mills Pump review what the rep effect is and the science behind it. My wife Kristen started doing this fitness program first while I was finishing up another round of P90X. But after joining her for a workout I got hooked on the upbeat music and the burn I felt throughout the workout. So I wanted to share my Les Mills Pump review with you!
Les Mills Pump Review – The Rep Effect
Les Mills Pump uses a technique called the Rep Effect. The idea behind the rep effect is fatiguing your muscles by using lighter weight but doing a higher number of repetitions. I love the music in Les Mills Pump and as the tempo of the music changes so do the speed of your movements with the lighter weights that you are lifting. On average you do about 70-100 repetitions per body part and about 800 repetitions in entirety in one whole workout. The Les Mills Pump review of each individual workout reveals that you do more than four times the amount of repetitions than a traditional workout. This allows you to break down more fat, target specific muscles and burn more calories than a traditional workout. Doing this Les Mills Pump review even impressed me when I saw the statistics behind the rep effect.
Les Mills Pump Review – The Workouts
From doing this Les Mills Pump review and doing the workouts myself I learned that there are three phases to Les Mills Pump. They are each 30 days long bringing the total Les Mills Pump program to 90 days.
- Phase 1: Te Wero – The Challenge – In the first 30 days you are going to learn to challenge your body to shed those pounds. The workouts in this phase are shorter but are definitely challenging.
- Phase 2: Panoni – The Change – You are going to learn to push yourself in Phase 2 which focuses on changing your body shape and giving you the leaned out look.
- Phase 3: Kia Kaha: Be Strong – In the last 30 days really focuses on getting your lean, ripped and strong. Kia Kaha is what the trainers say aka Be Strong!
I felt in this Les Mills Pump review that I needed to tell you a little about each workout.
- Pump Basics – (approx 10 minutes) In this workout you will learn how to use the barbell, have the proper stance and use the weights for the Les Mills Pump program.
- Pump Challenge – (approx 20 minutes) In this workout you will learn the about the fundamental moves in Les Mills Pump and when the music tempo changes how to connect the exercise you are doing with the music.
- Pump and Burn ( approx 30 minutes) Integrated functional movement allows your body to go through some strength and conditioning movements in this workout.
- Pump and Shred ( approx 45 minutes) Lunges and shoulder exercises are added into this workout and the Rep Effect begins to take place.
- Pump Revolution – (approx 55 minutes) Turn up the heat! This is what the Les Mills Pump review is all about. This workout brings on the strength, toning and endurance all at once with some great music! You will even get in a little extra cardio here!
- Pump Extreme – (approx 55 minutes) This Les Mills pump workout really focuses on intensity and strength.
- Flow – (approx 20 minutes) Yoga is the fountain of youth. In this workout the muscles you target are the same ones from your other Les Mills Pump workouts so this will help you recover, increase flexibility and help you perform better next time. I can honestly tell you in the Les Mills Pump Review that I have learned to embrace yoga because it truly helps you recover.
- Hard Core Abs – (approx 20 minutes) – When your core is strong everything else will follow. This workout will help tighten and tone your abs.
Les Mills Pump Review – Added Bonus Workouts
I cannot call this a full Les Mills Pump review without talking about the Deluxe edition. If you order the deluxe edition you get three additional cardio based workouts. The first is Step which is about 30 minutes and is a high intensity step cardio based workout. The second is Sports Attack which is also about 30 minutes of high energy moves such as running, jumping jacks etc. The last one is Combat which is about 45 minutes of a cardio kickboxing type workout. Les Mills Pump has days in the schedule that have you schedule in a cardio workout of your choice such as walking outside for 30 minutes. With these three additional workouts it takes the guessing work out of the equation. What I like about the deluxe edition is it allows me to not worry about what I need to do each and everyday. In my opinion in this Les Mills Pump review I highly recommend you get the deluxe edition.
Les Mills Pump Review – Equipment Needed
When you get Les Mills Pump you get the barbell, two safety clips and 2 sets of weight plates. The two 5lb plates and the two 10lb plates. This is all the equipment you really need. You can add in a step if you want but its not necessary. I also should tell you in this Les Mills Pump review that you can purchase additional weights to add to your barbell. After doing the program for awhile I purchased some more weights from Beachbody to give me added resistance.
