P90X Plus – The Next Level Of Fitness
P90X plus workout routine was introduced after thousands and now millions of people wanted more out of original P90X fitness program. That had great results but were looking for something a little more challenging. Some people just wanted more of Tony Horton’s comedic goofy personality. I know I was looking for a little more too and I think Beachbody delivered just that. Tony Horton took on the challenge and created these new workouts to increase your cardio and build strength in ways you probably never experience before. There are many new fitness moves in P90X plus that I truly enjoyed and I know you will too!
P90X Plus – The Actual Workouts
P90X plus introduced five more extreme workouts to this fitness program. Lets dive right in and discuss each of them individually.
- Interval X Plus – In this workout get ready to sweat and really turn up your cardio threshold. The intensity of this workout goes from low, to medium, then to high which will increase your heart rate and give you the most efficient calorie burn. I absolutely love this workout and I frequently substitute it in for other cardio days throughout the year when I am looking for a good overall cardio workout. Not only are you doing cardio moves standing up but you are doing some resistance training as well such as push ups in an interval type fashion. This P90X plus workout may be my favorite.
- Kenpo Cardio Plus – So you loved the original Kenpo from P90X as many people did and you are looking for something even more. Well you got it here. The first time I did this workout it took some time to getting used to. New moves and at a faster pace. This workout brings together both cardio and Kenpo karate style moves. The focus here will be on your balance, agility and stamina. This P90X plus workout is definitely fun as you learn the new moves but very challenging at the same time.
- Upper Plus – As in the original P90X you were more focused on individual the muscle groups for that specific day such as chest and back. Well in this P90X plus workout you won’t just focus on one or two muscle groups but actually focus on the entire upper body throughout the workout. Chest, back, arms, shoulders, biceps, triceps etc. You name the muscle group in your upper body and this P90X plus workout is going to hit it!!
- Total Body Plus – Many people loved Core Synergistics from the original P90X not just because you work the core but because it hits every part of your body. Well in Total Body Plus Tony Horton will take your entire body through a whole workout. You rotate from one muscle group to the next and you are constantly pushing yourself throughout the workout. Your heart is pumping throughout this whole workout because as one muscle group is recovering you are blasting another. This is why I feel many people that loved the original Core Synergistics will love this P90X plus total body workout.
- Abs/Core Plus – Ab Ripper X is P90X was the one workout I heard people say all the time was next to impossible. Those 16 minutes of core work were beyond intense. Many people still struggle with that workout today. It never gets easy. Well with this P90X plus workout Tony adds in more moves than just lying on a mat. You will use your chin up bar to hang and perform some core work which is something we never seen before. Tony then takes you through some core moves while standing up as well. Of course no abdominal workout is truly challenged into you go in the plank position which Tony does here as well. Last but not least you do some new cool moves on the mat that were quite impressive. Sometimes I scratch my head thinking where did he come up with all these ideas. Its pretty cool stuff! This P90X plus abdominal workout is one of a kind.
Added Cool Bonus in P90X Plus!
In P90X plus there is something called Trainer Tracks which I thought was a cool add on. You can turn it on or off. While you are working out you get personal training tips to help improve your form and make sure you are doing all these new moves right. Form is everything and when you have the proper form you will increase your results. I definitely thought this was a pretty cool feature that Beachbody and Tony Horton added in P90X plus.
P90X Plus – The Workout Calendar
The actual P90X plus calendar combines both the original P90X workouts and the P90X plus routines as well. There is not a 90 day P90x plus calendar per se. I guess you could do it but variety is the spice to fitness so I see this program as an add on to your original P90X. Here is an example of Weeks 1-3:
Monday: Upper Plus plus Abs/Core Plus
Tuesday: Interval X Plus
Wednesday: Total Body Plus
Thursday: Yoga X
Friday: Upper Plus and Abs/Core Plus
Saturday: Kenpo Cardio Plus
Sunday: Rest or X Stretch
Week 4 could look like this:
Monday: Back & Biceps and Ab Ripper X
Tuesday : Core Synergistics
Wednesday: Chest, Shoulders & Triceps
Thursday: X Stretch
Friday: Legs & Back and Abs/Core Plus
Saturday: Yoga X
Sunday : Rest or X Stretch
You will get a 12 week calendar to follow if you order the P90X plus program. So don’t worry the option is there!
