What Is P90X Doubles?
So you heard about P90X Doubles and aren’t quite sure what it is or you are a graduate of P90X and want a little more. You may even be looking to take your P90X results to the next level. Possibly you are someone that is already in great shape that is ready to tackle the P90X Doubles schedule right away. Well then I’m here to explain to you what the P90X Doubles workout program really is. The P90X Doubles is for those that are looking for a little extra cardiovascular training either for performance or weight loss. P90X Doubles involves double workouts for a few days a week. The key to this is to be sure you are injury free and have the energy to do double workouts a few days a week. You will be adding in the P90X workout called Cardio X a few days a week. However you will not pushing yourself to the anaerobic state where muscle breakdown occurs. You are staying in the aerobic heart rate zone where serious calories are being burned and the oxygen is pumping through your blood. The P90X doubles schedule is an awesome way to really turn your workouts up a notch!
Can I Start Out With P90X Doubles?
I would say no. I would not recommend you start out with the P90X doubles version if you are just starting to workout. The P90X Classic version is the most popular and the version that most people follow today. The last thing that I want is for someone to get hurt because they push themselves too hard in the beginning. I understand that everyone wants results over night. But remember as Tony Horton says “Rome was not built in a day and neither was your body.” So don’t start off with the P90X Doubles version. Start off with the P90X Classic schedule or the P90X Lean workout schedule. However, if you are if very good shape already or are an elite athlete you can start off with the P90X Doubles schedule. Then its totally fine. I just get concerned for those that want to start out by doing too much too fast. Here is the P90X Doubles schedule all broken down:

Now it is okay in the P90X Doubles program to skip a cardio workout if your body is very tired or sore. Listen to your body and realize that sometimes your body needs a break. I highly recommend that when you are doing doubles that you are drinking the P90X Recovery Drink every day. Your body needs the replenishment to help it recover especially when doing the P90X doubles program. I highly recommend that you refuel your body properly.
Can I P90X Doubles With A Different Program?
You can do another form of cardio when doing the P90X Doubles program but it all goes back to your level of fitness. You know your body best. Listen to it. But for example if you want to add in an Insanity workout a few times a week you can but just don’t get start overtraining.
The Key To P90X Doubles And Your Success!
The true key to any program and even this P90X Doubles schedule is your nutrition. You are what you eat. For me I try to eat healthy 90% of the time and I do cheat the other 10% of the time. You have to enjoy yourself! But I know many people struggle with diet the most. They can stick to a program like P90X but then fail when it comes to eating. For me personally to avoid this obstacle I drink Shakeology once a day. Its a nutrient dense full meal replacement that is the key to my nutritional success. Take the guesswork out of the equation. Whatever you eat just make sure that you are fueling your body with optimal nutrition. This is the difference between mediocre results and extreme results.
